A busy schedule leads to quick meals on the go so eating out is often the dinner of choice for many families living in the Findlay area. Even though families are spending more time eating dinner somewhere else than home, making healthy decisions when dining out can lead to improved health. Striving to develop a healthy community is a worthy endeavor, that’s why the “Eat well, Live better” coalition of community partners and the Hancock Public Health Department have started the GOLD Plate program in Findlay and all of Hancock County.
The GOLD in GOLD Plate stands for Great Options in Lower-fat Dining. The purpose of the program is to acknowledge and recognize restaurants in our area that are making efforts to offer healthy choices through menu items that are low in fat, sugar and salt. The program also educates our families by encouraging them to ask restaurants for healthy menu options.
