Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are reddish-brown, wingless insects that feed on the blood of humans.  Bed bugs are considered a nuisance pest as they do not transmit diseases.  Hancock Public Health offers identification services at no cost to residents of Hancock County.  Please contact our office for more information regarding identification.   Extermination of bed bugs is a challenging task and should be completed by a licensed professional.  Residents should not attempt treatment with over the counter pesticides or “bug bombs” as this can make the problem worse.
