Domestic Relations Court
Domestic Relations Court is a specialized division of Common Pleas Court that only hears certain kinds of cases. Generally, domestic relations courts hear divorces, dissolutions, legal separations, annulments, domestic violence civil protection order petitions, enforcement of foreign support orders, establishment of certain foreign support cases and registration of certain non-Ohio divorce decrees. Additionally, the court continues to retain jurisdiction to enforce its own orders and to modify issues relating to the custody of minor children and child support. The Hancock County Domestic Relations Division also hears petitions for civil protection orders based on stalking or sexually oriented offenses.
