Guidelines

• All loads must be Covered/Secured traveling to AND from the Landfill. The fee for an uncovered/unsecured load is $25.00.
• The landfill does accept televisions of all types and sizes. "Old style" projection and tube televisions.
• Household furniture can be disposed of at our facility.
• Asphalt shingles, drywall, and construction debris are all accepted, but no debris containing any type of asbestos is permitted.
• We cannot accept AG Tires of any type, Brush, Yard Waste, Infectious or Hazardous Waste Materials.

The Hancock County Sanitary Landfill is permitted as a Municipal Solid Waste Landfill facility. This means that the facility can accept municipal and industrial solid waste.

The landfill's operating permit was issued in compliance with Federal Subtitle "D" regulations. To satisfy the Ohio EPA requirements, Steven C. Wilson P.E., P.S., has been contracted by the Hancock County Board of Commissioners to act as sanitary engineer for the landfill.

Effective October 1, 2022

There will be an additional charge of $12 per Mattress, $12 per Box Spring, and $12 per Sleeper Sofa. This will be in addition to the charge by weight.

The landfill has a minimum charge of $15, which covers the disposal of up to 800 pounds of waste. After 800 pounds, a charge of $1.50 per 100 pounds will apply.

Cost per ton for municipal trash (generated within Hancock County) is $41.75, which includes fees.
